Replace your factory top mount intercooler, with the BIMMERSPEED S55 enhanced air to water intercooler, to get maximum performance from your BMW. Our kit boasts one of the most reliable direct-fit intercooler designs coupled with superior quality and pricing and capable of delivering big horsepower gains thanks to their capacities to reduce intake temperatures and avoid heat-soak, common issues with the OE intercooler. Your M2/M3/M4 will experience greater power and improved protection from pre-ignition and knock.
The most important component of any intercooler is the core. The core cools the charged air from the turbo before it enters the engine, and the OEM BMW tube and fin intercooler is designed to support low boost levels and air flow. Once boost levels and air flow are increased, the OEM unit is easily overwhelmed and cannot keep up with the cooling demands of a tune running more than OEM boost levels. This results in heat soak which will result in a power loss and a higher potential for pre-detonation in the upper RPM range. The OEM intercooler will rise in temperatures up to 105 whereas the VRSF dual pass, high density top mount intercooler will reduce temps down pull which is both harmful for your engine and robs you of power.
The BIMMERSPEED S55 Top Mount Intercooler features a bar and plate core design to allow for over 60% higher capacity over OEM cooling! The high-density core is designed to reduce intake temps and keep pressure drop low, while the CFD-optimized cast end tanks supply cooling power. This significantly helps prevent heat soak causing a reduction in power and causing pre-detonation in the upper RPM range!
